Paper Pumpkin

Wow, I haven't been on here for a while.  November sure was a whirl wind in our house!  Before the month is completely over (it still has a few hours, lol!) I wanted to share a special project that I did this month.

I started with an 8 in styrofoam ball and sliced off some at the top and bottom to give it the shape of a pumpkin.  I then covered the ball with strips of burlap - both to cover the styrofoam from peeking out among the flowers and to give me a better surface to glue the flowers to.

I then used the CTMH Cricut Cartridge Art Philosophy to cut the different types of flowers.  I cut them at 4 and 4 1/2 inches.  Once I rolled all my flowers (let me just say that the CTMH Quilling Tool REALLY helps) I started from the bottom and glued the flowers on using Quick Dry Tacky Glue.  To top it off I simply rolled some Olive cardstock and glued 'the stem' to the top.  Add some leaves and vines, cut using the CTMH Artbooking cartridge.  And TADA!  I think when I put it out next year I am going to add some glitter highlights....because I am after all the Glitter Queen!

Halloween Workshops

Before the month of October is completely gone I thought it would be fun to get together for a workshop or two.  I have come up with three different projects....I hope you find something you like.

Halloween Cards and Treats - Wednesday October 15 @ 6:30 pm

We will be making 4 cards and 4 treats.  All cutting will be done for you ahead of time.  Cost of the workshop is $15.

And of course there will be extra candy for sampling!

Halloween Flip Album - Saturday, October 18 @ 11 am

This 8 page Halloween themed flip album is made using our Designed Decor Flip Stand Album.  Each page features images from our ArtBooking Cricut cartridge.  All cutting will be done ahead of time for you.  Cost of the workshop is $20.

Scaredy Cat Layouts with Flip Flaps - Tuesday, October 21 @ 7 pm

Flip flaps are a great way to add on to a standard layout....you can add out or up or down....and it all folds back up to fit nicely into your album.  We will be making what is really 3 two page layouts, but once we utilize the flip flap page holders it will become 1 two page layout with extensions.  Confused?  Check out the photos below.  We will be using the fun Scaredy Cat paper pack and compliments.  And of course all of the paper will be cut ahead of time for you.
Cost of the workshop is $20.

Card Workshop - Send Someone a Smile

The second Tuesday of the month means it is time to get together to make some cards.  In this self-paced workshop you will be making four cards, all designed to Send Some One A Smile.  The idea of the workshop is to have a casual gathering to create some cards, make new friends and spend a relaxing evening the Glitter Queen's Studio.  The cards will be designed for all levels of card making experience from beginner to expert.

I hold these card making sessions on the second Tuesday of each month at 7 pm and the cost is only $5.  Our next gathering will be on September 9.

Chat & Scraps -
Do you need some inspiration to get restarted (or even started) on your latest scrapbook project?  Or a place to go and work without family interruptions?  Or just want to get out for the evening?   Then you need to come over for a Chat & Scrap!

What is a Chat & Scrap?  Bring your project over to the 'Glitter Queen's Studio' and work without any of the  interruptions that you get at home.  You will have access to all of my tools, stamps, inks, punches and even my Cricut and the Close To My Heart Artbooking, Art Philosophy and Artiste Cartridges.  Very soon we will have a new cartridge, Artfully Sent, to play with too.

Circus Alphabet....July Stamp of the Month

I know it has been a while since I posted anything....we were a little busy in our house with my daughter's high school graduation.  We are so proud of her!  As you can see, my Cricut was a little busy...

 And I was no soon recovered from all of the festivities and then it was time for our Annual Close To My Heart Convention.  This year it was held at the Disneyland Hotel.....and it was a great time!

I will be sharing more of what we did through out the month....but for now I want to tell you about this month's great Stamp of the Month....

The Easter Bunny Is Coming

Don't you just love Easter Time?  It gives us a great excuse to make lots of cute treats to give those around us. The possibilities are endless.  Here are some cuties that I came up with for my Easter Treats Workshop....

If you missed my workshop don't worry, I will be doing an encore Workshop on Thursday, April 10 at 6:30 pm.  We will be making one of each of these treats.  The cost of the workshop is $10.  Kindly RSVP by April 8 so I can prepare enough kits.

Skylark Workshop....Under Construction

I have been busy designing my next CTMH Workshop On The Go using the Skylark Paper Pack and embellishments.  As usual, I am not completely sticking to the instructions (big surprise, I know!) 
Here is my first layout:

In the workshop we will be making two 2 page layouts, 3 cards and a surprise gift item, all using the Skylark paper pack.  For the workshop you will receive:

• Skylark Level 2 Paper Pack

• Skylark Embellishment Asst, #Z3000

• Slate Striped Twist Ties, #Z1864

• Misc Cardstock and Embellishments as needed

• And of course, lots of creative ideas.

The cost of the Basic Workshop is $25.

Lets Make Some Cards....

Operation Write Home is a group that supplies hand-crafted cards to deployed heroes to write home on.  These cards have all been supplied by folks like you and me.

Once a quarter I like to host a Marathon Card Making Day for this great cause.  There is no cost to attend and we always have a fun day of friendship and creating.  I would love to have you come join me and make some cards for our soldiers.  Don't worry if you are not a card maker, we will show you how.  All supplies will be provided, but if you have something specific in mind please feel free to bring your own supplies.  If you have adhesive and a paper trimmer you could bring that would be great too.  If not, I will have some extras.

This quarter we will be making cards for Mother's Day and Father's Day, in addition to the basics (Thinking of you, Birthday, Love, Thank You, Missing You and Blank).

When?  Saturday, March 22.  The day is meant to be Open House style....drop by between 9 am and 9 pm and stay as long as you want.  Come for the whole day or just a part....but please RSVP to me ( 408-460-9678 or susieque@sbcglobal.net) so I can make sure to have enough workstations and supplies for all.

Washi Tape is all the rage.  It is certainly growing on me.  In this workshop we will be making 10 festive cards featuring Washi Tape.

Please bring scissors and your favorite adhesive.  Cost is $10.

Embossing is Boss...and FREE!

Just a little preview

Wow, it has been a while since I have posted....I hope you all had a great Christmas Season.  We really did.

January.  New year.  With this comes a preview of a new Idea Book.  And even though the book doesn't go live until February 1, I just had to share one of the new and exciting things to come.  I know that many of you are doing the Project Life books.  I've seen your Facebook and Blog posts about them.  I must admit I have only glanced at this scrapbooking option - I am already on project overload.  But guess what.....CTMH is coming out with their version.  I am taking this as a sign that I need to check it out more seriously.

I am eagerly awaiting my shipment of new products so I can get my hands on this new line.  The new Idea Book has 8 sets that include the cards & cover sheets and a set of Memory Protectors with different layout designs.  Once again, the CTMH Team has listened to the trends and brought us their version.  Yeah CTMH!

But this is only one of the new things coming.  I can't wait to share it all with you on February 1st!  Stay tuned!
